What does the Bible say about Salvation?

Salvation is the single most important part of our spiritual life. Salvation is the deliverance from the ruin and depth of our sins as well as from bondage to our spiritual enemies and their works in our lives. Salvation is the foundation of our Christian life and relationship with Christ Jesus. The Bible says that sin is a heart condition. It is a condition of rebellion against God. The Bible even refers to pride as “original sin.” The Hebrew definition of the word sin means “to miss the mark.” God created us to be like Him, but our pride and rebellion make us fall far short of that purpose. Our outward actions merely mirror our inner condition. It is our inner condition that God is concerned with. He knows the “real you” better than you yourself, because he sees “the inner man” and all your secret thoughts and motives.

“Neither is there any creature that is not manifest in his sight: but all things are naked and opened unto the eyes of him with whom we have to do.” Hebrews 4:13

Below are 3 fundamental and essential steps that will help lead you to salvation:

First, we must recognize that we are all born sinners.  Romans 3:23 says, “For all have sinned and come short of the glory of God.” “If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us.” 1 John 1:8.  If you cannot accept that you are a sinner before coming to Christ, then you will not see a need to come to him or accept him as Lord and Savior.

Secondly, we must acknowledge the need for Christ in our lives. A body without physical life is declared physically dead, so anyone who is separated from God (spiritually dead) is described in the Bible as spiritually dead. As long as we remain spiritually dead, we cannot know God. As a result, we need Christ in our lives to give us new and everlasting life.  Romans 6: 23 declares, “The wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.”

We must acknowledge the love of God and honor Jesus’ death on the cross. The greatest attribute of God is love.  God is love and He has much love for you and me.  He loves all sinners and wants to save every one of us from hell and the terrible results of our sin. His Word tells us, “But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.” Romans 5:8

Romans 10: 9-10, “That if you will confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus, and believe in your heart that God hath raised him from the dead, you will be saved. For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.”  So it is now our responsibility to audibly speak our belief in Jesus.

So now anybody can call upon the name of Jesus and be saved from eternal damnation.  Romans 10:13, “For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.”

Finally, pray for God to come into your life and deliver you from the bondage of sin, acknowledging him as the Lord and Savior of your life. Experience new life with Jesus.
